Peace in the Storm
|
The paintings in this section are the ones that I painted for my immediate family and for myself. The storm I was facing and walking through was tough but Jesus calmed every part of the raging emotions within me. Painting these kept my attention that Jesus was in charge of my cancer walk so I used them to meditate on the peace of Jesus.
Each picture was a response to my question of a time or place that they really felt the peace of God in their own lives. |

This painting is of the steps descending into the portion of Hocking Hills called Rock House. I remember at a time that I was let go from a job that I had poured my heart into, taken away from a group of people that I loved, and doing a job that God called me to do, God showed me His peace. I remember looking up this stairway and throughout His creation and feeling totally wrapped up in the presence of my Lord.

This dog was a dog that we bought for my daughter, Alayna. She was in the eighth grade at the time. She hated change... but much change happened in our life and she was being forced to change with it. I went back to work, her siblings had changed schools and her grandmother had just passed away. The dog was purchased to help comfort her in this time and as she was reading her bible she learned of the name Shalom meaning "God's Peace". That is what she ended up calling her dog as he was a tangible reminder of God's peace in her young life.
This was requested by my daughter, Lydia. This is Swallow Falls in MD. On her senior trip to Washington D.C. the classmates were allowed to stop and swim in this beautiful place.
If you can imagine it was at a time of closure to childhood and the beginning of adulthood beginning with her journey to college that was 10 hours from home and all that lies ahead. She felt God just reassuring her that He was in control and He would carry her every step of the way. My son, Ethan is very laid back and appreciates his quiet times with the Lord. He had received this guitar as a birthday gift and quickly began learning how to play. When I asked him for something that represents how he encounters the peace of God he told me that he loves to lie in his hammock or bean bag chair and play the songs of worship that are stirring in his heart.

This tree is more than just a tree. It is the view you see as you are about to turn into our driveway. When my husband was approached with "the question" his response was very dear to my heart. He said that he feels the peace and presence of God as he is coming home. Knowing he is coming home to the family that loves him so much helps to extinguish the problems that try to detour him throughout the day.
